Here is a gorgeous little string of bunting that you and your children can make at home. The perfect decoration for Easter.
To begin with you need five blank bunny shapes. You could use cardboard for this or, for something stronger and more durable, how about a set of blank mdf bunny shapes. These are available on my Etsy store (link at the bottom of the page).

Next, you need some scraps of paper, cut into strips of about 1cm. These could be colourful bits from magazines or old wrapping paper. Alternatively, there are all sorts of beautiful pads of patterned paper available.

Using PVA glue or Mod Podge, stick the strips on until your bunny is completely covered and leave to dry. At this point the paper can overhang at the edges because we’ll sort that out once it’s dry.

Once the glue has completely set we can now remove the overhanging paper. You could trim around the edges with scissors to begin with. I normally remove the larger bits that way but it can be a little fiddly in places, so my favourite trick is to use sandpaper, if you have any. I hold the bunny flat and gently pull the sandpaper downwards over the edge of the wood to remove the excess paper and reveal the proper outline of the bunny. You’ll also need to poke the holes for string through the paper again, using a pencil or something similar.
For the tails of the bunnies you could either use buttons or pom poms. If using pom poms, I recommend using a blob of glue and then holding the pom pom in place with a clothes peg until dry, or else it does tend to be a bit wobbly!

You could make all five of your bunnies striped in the same way, or you could alternate and have some that are just painted. I love polka dots so I just had to have some polka dot bunnies in there too.

After that, all that’s left to do is to add some string and decide where to hang your beautiful new bunting!
